greetings awesome bloggers,
i got this idea from sandy last week. cracked me up. she said something about having ADTD. it’s sort of like ADHD, but you have a toddler who keeps distracting you and you totally forget what you were doing.
i’m just goofing around here. i do not have ADHD, but i play one on tv. he he
my name is kathleen and i have ADMD around computers. it is sort of like ADHD tee hee, but the M is for ME. i keep distracting myself and i forget what i was last doing on the computer. does anyone else do this? is it just me? i will be doing something on the computer and will instantly think of something else, so will stop the blog i was reading or the comment i was writing or the post i was writing and i will immediately go to the internet and look something up or go read one of my favorite blogger’s post. then i will think of something else, and immediately go to another site, sometimes before i finish what i was already reading. then i will look at another blog, then go over to the buzz and answer a comment to me, then bounce to a link that someone pointed out on their blog, then look at all the articles in the shared area, but before i finish, i will bounce back to the buzz and comment some more and bounce to another favorite blog and read and comment then bounce to my site and dabble with the post i am writing. and during all of this, i have a fiction short story percolating in my head — the plot and characters are on the move and it is a rush, but everything is happening at the same time. i am getting tired just writing about bouncing! and before too long, i will look at my computer on the bottom screen and realize i have 15 boxes open with partially written comments or email drafts. i keep forgetting what i was last doing. i will pop on one of the boxes and realize i didn’t finish a comment that i started but i could’ve sworn i did that already.
so, my name is kathleen and i have ADMD. **room claps and welcomes me** so, do i get to have my juice and cookie now? he he. does anyone else bounce from thing to thing to thing on the internet and forget what you were doing? is it just me? or are there any other ADMDs out there, too? share it with me. we can relate.
i say just release your inner xena battlecry (blblblabllblalblabbbabb!). remember that? she’d belt out that funky wild battlecry as she entered a battle scene. so blalallalal, let it go, let it out, it’s okay. tomorrow is a new journey, so do less, and value more.
peace my sisters, kathleen xo
ps. and sharing a sweet thing about today. a blogger buddy of mine totally made my day today. she sent me a note and it said in part, “You are such an ego boost! I need to bottle you and market you on Ebay!… ” awh! nobody had ever told me this before. and i am touched! and it is someone who i really enjoy and am impressed with. she totally made my day cause everytime i thought of this note, i smiled a big ole goofy happy grin. thanks sweetie.
You are just sooooo very funny!!!! Thanks for the bright spot this morning 😉
This happens to me all the time!! And here I thought I was just a flake. Good to know I’m not the only one!! Have a happy day, K!
I think I’m more prone to the ADTD. :0) My toddler keeps me pretty busy. What can you do?
I guess mine is ADTD too, but instead of ‘toddler’ it’s ‘teen.’ I can’t stay on task very long without someone ‘needing’ something that is only a few step away from them, probably closer to them than me…
LMAO – Love this… releasing my inner Xena – ‘blblblabllblalblabbbabb!’
You’re right… that did help!
Hilarious! And true. I was just looking for airline flights to New Mexico (from England) knowing I can’t go, when I decided I should forward the invite to a weekend crop to my husband so he could see what I am missing being a wife and mom. Well, as I was sending the email, I realized that I need to clean up my email folder, so I did. There was one from you, so I clicked on it. Then I wondered, “How exactly does a blog die?” “Should I be frightened?” “I’d better ask…” and so I see this post and giggle all the way through it. I’m supposed to be clearing out iphoto. sigh.
I had ADMD just reading this entry, because I kept getting distracted and pulled away from it before I could finish reading it. hahahaha
Sorry sweetie.
I think every mom suffers from some AD disorder or another! It comes with the territory! And you’re welcome. I meant it.
ROFL!!! Wonderful,…no I’ve discovered I have another disorder 🙂 I have the ADTD and now ADMD. It’s so bad that I’ll end up with 10-15 browsers open, and I’ll completely forget what it was I was reading or was doing on that page *sigh*….I fear what I’ll be like in a few more years….
ha ha ha.
thanks for the laugh bebe.
:] love youuuu. ♥
hi danielle — thanks, that tickles me!
hi karen — nope, not alone. we are twins! loved your note today, thanks 🙂
hi ashlee — cute, so now you have a name for it! don’t you feel complete? he he
hi tara girl — loved your reaction to the inner xena. everytime you sent me a note about it today, i just giggled even more. you are something else my friend 🙂
hi imbeingheldhostage — he he! loved this. it has been fun to hear so many of us do this same ADMD thing!
hi sue bear — that’s funny that you experienced ADMD while reading my post! and you cracked me up in emails how you said you would’ve told me you got your hair done last night but you couldn’t remember to tell me because you have ADMD, too. awh, i love ya friend.
hi jenna — he he! amen! thank you for doing that yesterday. i love your sweet notes all the time.
hi sandy — thanks for the idea and the laughs and chats. had so much fun running with this idea girl. catch ya in a bit 🙂
hi heather — glad you enjoyed the chuckle 🙂
nighty night all, kathleen xoxo
I open a new browser all the time to look something up and forget what. It is so so sad, especially when I am at work.
Too funny! I can SO relate! (Love the Xena battlecry–you wrote it out perfectly!)
It’s so easy to get sucked in! I will be doing something, get an MSN Messenger email pop, look at that, respond to that…on and on…I’ve been lost quite a few times in the past.
Now, I have missions. If it’s reading blogs, I completely ignore everything else. If it’s cre8Buzz, same. If it’s writing a post, same. And when my kids are away, the laptop is closed and doesn’t open up again until they are asleep. I feel a lot better about things. It’s really so easy to become distracted online – by other online things.
“when my kids are awake” not away 🙂
hi jane — he he, it has been fun to see that most of us all do this ADMD stuff 🙂
hi annette — thanks and good to see you again. hope the writing conference was a blast and a meaningful experience for you and everyone. yes, loved that xena bit, too, especially. blblblalbllalblbba!! he he
hi huckster — he he. so funny how we all do this. i have been trying lately to group things like you said there. but still i am all over the place and forgetting to finish and come back. opp, doing it again, getting whirlwinded just talking about it. he he. glad you loved the new post last night. you are the wind beneath my wings. hahahah, just teasin you girl.
peace, kathleen xo!
Tab browsing people! The cure for ADMD! I have 15 tabs open in Firefox right now but I can see them all and they remind of all things I have thought of to do. What are they, you ask? Clean out 3 of my 800 email accounts, edit the hubby’s website, pick out shower fixtures for the basement, read Kathleen’s blog, post something on my blog, read at least 5 other blogs, check Ikea to see if my furniture is in stock, chat with the hubby…now he wants me to look at sofas…anyway, tabs, I tell you, TABS!
hey GR8 SHW — thanks for coming by. it’s funny to hear so many of us do this! did your tab really say “read kathleen’s blog” or were ya joshing me. that was funny. be a good girl when you drop the kids off today at school. he he. so funny what you did the other day. happy friday, kathleen 🙂
hi there…phew..I thought I may have been going senile…yes it happens all the time..lol
hi sjoukes — hey there. i guess we have an ADMD club now, eh? he he. kathleen
