1) old photo of us in our beloved alaska, getting wind beaten next to a glacier in seward alaska. love living in anchorage alaska. fell in love with it immediately when a work assignment i volunteered for brought me up here 20 years ago. never want to live anywhere else; 3) old photo of me when i was in the Air Force. this is a motivation picture for me. want to get back to near this size again! been working on this goal since end of jan 2008; and 2 & 4) recent pictures taken 20sep2008 (i’ve lost 28 1/2 lbs since jan2008) woo hoot!. 5) me with one of my favorite singer/songwriters (hilary we eks) in early sep2008 when she was up here doing a show .. it was an honor to get to talk and giggle with her, she is just as warm in person. 6) my hubby and my pup luka sleeping oct2008.
meet us … 1) kathleen, 2) hubby, 3) teen daughter, 4) teen daughter the younger, 5) and three doggies. i am the only Mormon in my immediate family, so as my friend elizabeth calls it, we have a bi-cultural family dynamic. i became converted to the Gospel during the turning point of my life … sat 30 apr 2005 through sat 07 may 2005. i will forever look at my life as BEFORE that week and SINCE that week. no greater gift have i been given. overall, i have felt a sense of peace, of calm, and meaningfulness since i chose this path. my family has adjusted to me, but nothing that is worth it is easy.
about me …
God/religion/relationships = my priority. God and country. very patriotic since serving in the Air Force. sharing moments and smiles and giggles and hugs with those i love. making stuff (i.e. cross stitching, altered books, cards…). i’ve been collecting great quotes since age 11. love the written word (to write and to read). going to the movies. boxing is my favorite exercise. hoping husband and i survive parenting teenagers .. almost done .. yeah! i had such a meaningful experience teaching the little ones/primary kids. i love it how they sometimes run up to me and smile or hug me or say hi ya!
what i think of comments = i love it when my favorite people visit me and leave me comments. come on, you know i want you to. you make my day when you do.

Hey, I found your blog through “If Mom Says Okay.” My husband and I are also parenting teenagers (SIX) right now. Dealing with four of the teens driving and a fifth getting his learner’s permit is adding to our gray hairs.

Found your site while looking up a phrase for my Sunday School class. I had an unknown someone out of the blue email me a comment this morning telling me how he appreciated my standing up for my religion… coming from an atheist (him) …. that meant a lot. It’s unreal to think we actually touch the hearts of people we will never know.
