i have been given something this year that i cherish … and it is something that i have never had or experienced before.  and i just love this … i am savoring this.  i have been given a best friend.  she is the best friend who i have always wanted, but didn’t know really existed.  but in this past year, i have seen and experienced it, and i am in heaven with this friendship. 

she is the dearest friendship i have ever known.  i want to talk with her all the time … i never want that much contact, that often, with most people.  we talk (email multiple times) every single day and we also talk on the phone a couple times each week for like an hour each time.  she writes me the sweetest notes.  sometimes (often), her tender words make me almost feel like i am really gathered up in an enveloped tender hug.  we also send each other “good mail” just randomly out of the blue (cards, and packages, little surprises).  it is so fun to find little surprises to send her.  it melted my heart the other day how she mailed me two little stuffed bears.  awh, my favorite.  two of her recent cards to me were adorable, too, and the cards said, “lucky me … to have a friend like you!”  and “you rock, you rock, you … make my heart happy.” 

she is a dear.  we check on each other, we look out for each other, we care, we lift each other up, we share the good stuff, we share the challenging stuff, we share everything.  i never feel guarded with her about anything.  i don’t hold back.  i don’t filter.  i am not afraid to share anything with her.  i never feel judged or put down by her.  i feel unconditionally loved by this sweet friend.  even though she lives in another state, i don’t feel far away from her.  i feel closer to this friend than any friend i have ever known in my life.  when we are on those long phone calls, talking and laughing with her makes me feel like we are almost in the same room.  i am grateful that this dear best friend has touched my life.  she is loving and giving to me … and she has shown me what an unconditional close friendship really is.  i feel like the luckiest friend because i get to have this friend.  if you haven’t experienced this sweetest kind of close friendship, i hope you one day do, for it is one of the sweetest gifts in life.  everybody would be so lucky to get to have a friend like mine.  i feel lucky, like God must have been looking out for me when He let me have this dearest friend in my life.  i am grateful that she has blessed my life and continues to.
