good morning sweet bloggers. share this with me.
something amazing that has never happened to me happened to me at work yesterday and i am just amazed, floored, stunned, stoked excited, and smiley. clear? he he
this is something that rarely happens to anyone in a federal agency, so I feel honored.
my boss and her boss asked me to come see them yesterday right before i left work. we sat behind closed doors and they told me i was “requested by name” or “name selected” for another comptroller position in my large government agency. it is still in my careerfield. i am a comptroller (financial manager for multi-million dollar government construction projects). i did not apply for this position. this is practically never done in a government agency. there are strict rules about going through the hiring process for positions. but they are superceding the hiring process and i was requested by name to take this if i want it. it is not higher than my present rank, but it is another opportunity for growth in my careerfield … experience in an area that i do not have yet. there is potential for future growth by taking this, too. i said yes on the spot because i was so flattered mostly. i feel honored that this was done for me this way.
sidenote: in the past four years, i was given 16 (yes, sixteen) awards at work which is also rare. people do not normally earn that many in such a short time. i am grateful and humbled everytime i am given an award … for doing what i think is just my job. i don’t feel like i go above and beyond really, i just strive to do what i think should be done, and i strive to treat people right.
i am just smiley and flattered that i was requested by name. made my day! this has never happened to me before. my boss’ boss said really awesome things about me as a worker, too. said this happened because you have such a reputation, you are such a pleasure to work with, and you are really good at what you do. and he said more but i was so amazed, i didn’t hear everything. this little meeting felt so good to be told all these things. i am just stunned still. and i couldn’t tell a soul yet at work. they requested i keep this silent until we announce this news on monday to the agency. so, i was bursting and shocked at the seams but i agreed to hold in the news of this at work until my boss announces this.
it’ll take place probably w/in the next couple weeks.
i am pleased and just flattered. see my grin?
thanks for sharing this with me
happy friday sweeties, kathleen xoxo!
