i saw this gem on carol’s blog. thanks for the reminder, kathleen
Time passes. Life happens.
Distance separates. Children grow up.
Jobs come and go. Love waxes and wanes.
Men don’t do what they’re supposed to do.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors. Careers end.
BUT – Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you.
A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her.
When you have to walk that lonesome valley
And you have to walk it by yourself,
The women in your life will be on the valley’s rim,
Cheering you on,
Praying for you,
Pulling for you,
Intervening on your behalf,
And waiting with open arms at the valley’s end.
Sometimes, they will even break the rules
And walk beside you, or come in and carry you out. Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters,
Daughters-in-law, sisters,
Sisters-in-law, mothers,
Grandmothers,
Aunties, nieces, cousins
And extended family all bless our life. When we began this adventure called womanhood,
We had no idea of the incredible
Joys or sorrows that lay ahead,
Nor did we know how much
We would need each other.
Every day, we need each other still. Pass this on to all the women who help make your life meaningful.
I just did.

This has God’s thumbprints all over it for me. About six months ago my very best friend read something on my blog about time and distance and friendship. I have reason to believe that this hurt her. Since that post she has distanced herself from me to where the only contact she has made with me during the past six months was a Christmas photo card. During that time I made phone calls which were not answered or when answered were centered around short and concise answers. No conversation really like in the old days when we stayed on the phone for hours talking about nothing and everything. To make a long story kinda shorter. I was in a shop the other day and a bear holding a sign ‘Forever Friends’ ’spoke’ to me. I placed it in the mail. She should get it this week. I hope it opens the door to talk about how she continues to make my life meaningful. Thanks for this. And for always stopping by and cheering me up
It does my heart good when I can share a poem such as “Cherish Friendship.” I do not know who wrote it, but the words are so comforting to me. And Kathleen, I am still in awe that I found your blog. You have lifted my spirits many times. Thank you so much, my friend.
Great reminder! Thanks for posting this.
